    Welcome to the ElimIn8 Educational Series on Hepatitis C - A virus we can cure*.

    The series consists of four, short audio podcasts where health professionals discuss the role of primary care in  the elimination of Hepatitis C from New Zealand.

    *Cure means no detectable HCV RNA is found in a blood test taken 12 weeks after treatment has finished.

    This is the third in a series of audio podcasts on the elimination of Hepatitis C in NZ. 

    In this podcast we hear from Dr John Cameron, a GP based in Auckland, who moves through the Hepatitis C Care Cascade using his own patient case study. 

    In this very informative interview Dr Cameron provides practical, down to earth advice to his GP colleagues on how to approach their patients with HCV, and how to help them deal with the stigma associated with this disease.

    In this podcast we hear from Dr Homie Razavi, Associate Professor Catherine Stedman and Judith McLaughlin, Hepatitis Nurse Specialist, on testing and treating the Hepatitis C virus. We also hear from a patient about their personal experience of being diagnosed with Hepatitis C.

    This is the first in a series of audio podcasts on the elimination of Hepatitis C in NZ.

    In this podcast Assoc Professor Catherine Stedman discusses the benefits of curing Hepatitis C.

    We also hear from a patient about their personal experience of living with, and being cured of, the Hepatitis C virus.

    Associate Professor Stedman is a specialist Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at Christchurch Hospital, and also works as a Clinical Senior Lecturer for the University of Otago where she convenes medical student gastroenterology teaching.

    Her field of research is liver disease and pharmacology, focusing on hepatitis C and autoimmune liver diseases. Her published papers in hepatitis C epidemiology have influenced global understanding of chronic hepatitis C epidemiology including government and Ministry of Health understanding and approach to hepatitis C treatment strategies.
